WELCOME TO WRAF 2010 !!!

The 10th Wedmore Real Ale Festival

17th – 19th September 2010

All ‘Ale The Wedmore Real Ale Festival

Over 2000 people passed through the doors to sample some of the countries finest ales. The beer flowed freely in Wedmore when hoards of merry revellers partook in one of the regions liveliest annual events, the Wedmore Real Ale Festival. Well over 5500 pints of Beer were sold together with Two Pigs, much Wine and Cider.

On Friday night the rock band “Crosswired” entertained the crowd and on Saturday rock and blues legends “Loose Change” packed the dance floor. The awesome DJ Enhance who led dancing well into the night supported both acts. One of the first locally brewed beers to be quaffed was “Ginger Hare” especially produced for Dave Stoner (chief ale selector) by Bath Ales.

The Circus themed Saturday night saw revellers dressing up in their finest fancy dress costumes, which included The Wedmore State Circus (Ladbrooke family), several people dressed as strong men, clowns, lions, ball juggling seals, a two headed man and a fire eater. The day times were packed with many families alongside connoisseurs and visitors from afar, everyone enjoyed sitting in the sunshine reading the news and quaffing fine British ales. Once again the traditional pub games, supplemented by a few more modern ones, were a hit as was “Gramophone Pete” spinning his 78s on Saturday afternoon.

Many local worthy causes will benefit from the money raised at this year’s festival and organisers hope to be able to donate more than ever before to local worthy causes. The festival is only possible with the support of the many local businesses that sponsor barrels and volunteers who give their time freely to staff the door and bar. Our heartfelt thanks go out to all that contributed, and attended, we hope that they will continue supporting the event in future years.
